Donated Homebrew Supplies Available

Howdy HOPS Heads,
We have had some homebrew supplies donated to us recently and we are going to auction them off. JP Rappenport and Ken Long have both moved out of the area and they were kind enough to donate their homebrew supplies to the club before they left. Thanks guys! So we are going to sell them off. We'll call it the "Christma-Kwanzaa-Hanukkah Blowout Extravaganza Sale!" (Just to keep everything politically correct, of course.)

Below is a list of items we have for the remaining items, the quantity on hand, the estimated value, and then the starting bid price. Email randy@speeddirect.com if you would like to place a bid on any of the items. So get your bid on right away - bidding ends ??? As bids come in I will keep track of them and then let the different bidders know where the pricing is at to see if you want to keep bidding on those items.

Item Qnty In Stock Est. Value (Each) Starting Bid Price (Each)
Swing Top Grolsch Bottle Case (16x16oz bottles/case, total of 96 'swingers') 6 $20.00 $5.00 Per case

Small funnels 2 $0.50 $0.25 Each

The second item on the list, the mash tun, is a great tool to start the world of all grain brewing if you are interested. It has a false bottom, valve and lid. Regarding the wine items, if one person wants them all I am sure we can come up with a goodie price.

Again, if you are interested in bidding on any of these items, send me an email at randy@speeddirect.com or give me a call at 970-731-1348. Let me know the quantity and the item(s) you are interested in. The bidding will go for about a week. I can arrange pick up / drop off / payment stuff with you later, no hurry on that.

Don't wait! Order now! While supplies last! Batteries not included! Finished beer not included! Midgets not included!   :-/

Homebrew Party Tomorrow Info

Hello HOPS Heads,
Just a reminder that tomorrow we are having a homebrew party at Sandy and Debra Sandoval's house. Most of us are brewing Stout, but come and brew whatever you want - or, just come and drink beer and watch us brew. Quoteth the Sandy:

"I plan on having a TV inside and outside with the game on. The garage has the beer fridge and dart board. Patio tables will be set up in the brewing area and the garage." Also, they will be cooking some veggies for the crew, but bring your own meat for the grill and brewskis.

Eleanor and I picked up a growler of Mole Stout from Ska today (it's fresh!), so we will be sharing that too. Hope to see you tomorrow!

Cheers ~

Randini

P.S. - If you need directions or a phone number you can call me at 946-7839 or go to our website at pagosahops.org and look at previous postings for the details. We plan to start brewing around 11:00.

Stout Competition Rules & Misc Brew Info

SPAM!!! Oh yeah, I am full of it... (in many ways)

I talked to Tony at Pagosa Brewing and for anyone interested in brewing this weekend that does not have all the ingredients necessary, Pagosa Brewing may be able to help. Quoteth the Tony: "We have whole kernel malt for this weekend brews. [Randini - I will have a mill there for crushing them] We've got the whole range of malt we can sell by the lb. Hops are also available.  Will need to check inventory on varieties.  And, we have some dry yeast too."

So contact Pagosa Brewing ASAP if you know what ingredients you are lacking.

Below are the rules for the competition.

Cheers ~

Stout-Only Homebrew Competition
For Stout Month 2013

(Sorry, professionally experienced brewers excluded)

In conjunction with our upcoming Stout & Chops Month in February 2013, we are challenging Stout Lovers to create a homebrewed Stout to help us celebrate.

In 2012, we offered 16 different Stouts (8 in-house & 8 guest). The winning homebrewer will have the opportunity to join us and brew a full sized 6bbl batch of their Stout recipe, which will be featured for Stout Month 2013.  The winning brewer will also receive a $50 gift card & bragging rights.

RULES:

1)     Entries must be Stouts (no Porters, Black IPAs, Black Lagers, etc.)

2)     Entry must be under 8% ABV.

3)     This is an AHA sanctioned competition & BJCP style guidelines will be used for judging: http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/style13.php

4)     Creativity of ingredients is encouraged, but not required.

5)     All entries must be delivered by Friday, 1/4/13 to Pagosa Brewing.

6)     For each entry, three 12 oz. bottles are required.

7)     Entries need to be labeled with names, styles & any necessary info.

8)     Participants cannot have professional brewing experience.

9)     Brewers cannot use our house yeast.

10) All winning recipes will be considered Pagosa Brewing recipes, and at our discretion may (or may not) be brewed by us in the future.

Group Grain Purchase

Hi again - I have a feeling you are going to hear a lot from me today. I am, after all, a most accomplished beer spammer! ;-)

We have had several members express interest in getting another group grain purchase going. In the past we have ordered from Colorado Malting Co in Alamosa. If anyone is interested in buying bulk grain (it comes in 50lb bags) let me know how much of what you are interested in. Normally they offer base malts and pilsener malts, but very few specialty malts. Send an email to me directly randy@speeddirect.com with what you are interested in. This is not yet a commitment - once we find out how many people are interested we can let you know about pricing. We won't place an order until everyone knows pricing and what is available.

Cheers ~
